Looking for Thai Yoga Massage in Thunder Bay?
Thai yoga massage in Thunder Bay at Thai Healing Center is a mat-based session of assisted stretching and rhythmic pressure. You stay fully clothed while your practitioner guides your body through slow, supported movements.
You may be here because your shoulders and hips feel tight from sitting or driving, or because winter has left you stiff. You may also wonder whether the Thai massage you find in this city is the real thing. This page explains what a session involves, who it suits, and what happens when you book.
What Is Thai Yoga Massage?
Thai Yoga Massage is one of the names commonly used in the West for traditional Thai Massage, often referred to as Nuad Thai or Nuad Boran, a traditional that goes back many centuries. In Thailand it grew alongside Thai medicine. Wat Pho, a temple in Bangkok, is widely seen as the spiritual home of traditional Thai massage, and the method is still taught there.
During a session you lie on a padded mat on the floor. Your practitioner uses hands, thumbs, forearms, knees and feet to press aalong pathways known in traditional Thai practice as sen. Between pressure points, they move your limbs into supported stretches. It feels a little like a guided yoga class where you do none of the work.
The aim is a body that feels looser, a mind that settles, and movement that comes more easily afterward.
Who Is Thai Yoga Massage Well Suited For?

Reasons People Choose Thai Yoga Massage
You may notice:
- A tight neck and shoulders by mid-afternoon after hours at a screen or wheel.
- Feeling stiff through the hips or lower back after long periods of sitting.
- Stiffness when you wake, or on cold mornings that make you move less.
- Feeling physically tense or tight after training, work, or a long day.
- A busy mind that struggles to settle, even when you finally have time to rest.
You may have tried stretching on your own and found it difficult to stay consistent or comfortably reach certain areas. During Thai Yoga Massage, your practitioner supports and guides your body through movements and stretches that can be difficult to do on your own.

What Thai Yoga Massage Involves
A session may combine several traditional techniques, each contributing to the overall experience.
Assisted stretching
Your practitioner supports your body through comfortable stretches, with the amount of movement adapted to you.
Rhythmic pressure
Slow, rhythmic pressure is used throughout the session, with the intensity adjusted to your comfort. You can ask for lighter or firmer pressure at any point.
Guided movement and breath
Gentle rocking, twists and slow breathing help your body settle. Many people feel calmer and more relaxed when the hour ends.

Our Approach to Thai Yoga Massage
Our approach to Thai yoga massage in Thunder Bay starts with the routine Puiy studied at Wat Pho. We then adapt it to the person on the mat. Some sessions are slow and soothing. Others spend more time on stiffness or an area that keeps tightening up.
Traditional Thai Massage has long been used as part of regular personal care and wellbeing, and that philosophy continues to influence the way we approach sessions at Thai Healing Center. Puiy draws on traditional methods while adapting each session to the individual client’s comfort, mobility, and needs. All Thai Healing Center practitioners work within the Center’s established approach and standards, while adapting each session to the individual client.
