More Than Massage: Sharing Thai Culture in Thunder Bay

Thai Healing Center has always been about more than massage.

Traditional Thai Massage is deeply connected to Thai culture, movement, history, and the way knowledge is passed from teacher to student. For Puiy, sharing Thai Massage in Thunder Bay has also created opportunities to share other parts of the culture she grew up with.

One of those is traditional Thai dance.

This month, the Thai Healing Center Dancers will be performing at Arts & Culture Under the Lights on Friday, September 18 at Marina Park as part of the opening celebration for Ontario Culture Days in Thunder Bay.

For us, events like this are a chance to share something a little different with the community. Thai dance, like Thai Massage, takes patience, practice, and an appreciation for the traditions behind the movements.

We enjoy being able to bring a little piece of Thailand to Thunder Bay, whether it is through massage, Rue Si Datton, dance, or simply helping people learn more about Thai culture.

And just like Puiy’s own learning has continued throughout her life, we believe there is always more to learn and more to share.
